Janelle Monae Album Launch at Pier 84

Premier international track & field

CHALLENGE:

To oversee production of the IAAF Diamond League’s lone East Coast stop on its premiere International track and field circuit. Broad staffing capabilities were required to manage everything from obtaining permits and contracting tenting, seating and bleachers to accounting for power, sound, music, video, permitting, catering and liaison with Swiss timers and media. Logistical hurdles ranged from working around concurrent events on Randall’s Island to coordinating with multiple entities and government agencies. Security for the spectators and athletes was a central factor to this highly visible public sporting event in one of the biggest cities in the world.

SOLUTION:

As preferred vendor to the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation, Siam called on its experience and local relationships to efficiently acquire and deploy the necessary resources. From coordinating NYPD and FDNY with privately contracted security to interfacing not only with the local NBC broadcast crew, but International TV outlets broadcasting to over 140 countries, a 70-person team worked in unison to manage the simultaneously moving parts of the complex event plan.

RESULT:

Hundreds of elite athletes performed to enthusiastic crowds and a viewing audience of millions in a thrilling day of competition. Praised Rich Kenah of Global Athletics “Siam has helped shape (the Adidas Grand Prix) into one of the best events of its kind.”
